Welcome to the MAN720 blog!

The University of the Western Cape is located in the suburb of Bellville, Cape Town. Established in 1960, the university is alert to its African and international context as it strives to be a place of quality, a place to grow and a place to learn. It is committed to excellence in teaching, learning and research, to nurturing the cultural diversity of South African, and to responding in critical and creative ways to the needs of a society in transition.

This blog, the brainchild of five UWC Honours students who have been assigned a task to project manage a community based project of their choice. This assignment forms part of continuous evaluation in the Project Management [MAN720] module conducted by Percy Saungweme at the School of Business and Finance in the EMS Faculty. The demographic of the group is made up of five part-time students, two of which are living in UWC residence which currently houses approximately 3800 students. Thus the group decided to engage in a project that places it’s focus on the UWC student community.

Matthew's survey experience :-)

Outside Gorvalla, Bellville

So yesterday I decided to conduct my survey on the off campus UWC residential students. I paid a visit to Gorvalla residence in Bellville which was rather quiet as many of the students were at campus,
Outside Disahof, Tygerberg Hospital

and Disahof residence at Tygerberg Hospital whose atmosphere was more upbeat with many students walking around.

It was the 1st time ever I've been in a residential building, so the experience was pretty new to me. However, I found the experience quite refreshing!! It was interesting to see how the students lived and it felt as though there was a real community spirit between the students in both res buildings.

Getting help filling out the survey questionnaire from students was painless, and a few of them seemed really interested to find out exactly what it was that we were doing.

SPECIAL THANKS to Shade and Judie for helping me out today!!! As a gift there was STEERS for my peers

That’s 20 survey questionnaires done and dusted... now to get all 100 analysed... :-O

So let’s get cracking,

Till next time, keep it real
MATT B
